Welcome to Essentially Loved
Essentially Loved is a space for people living with grief — for those navigating loss, pain, and ache, and trying to understand the impact grief has on the brain, body, and soul.
Grief doesn’t stay contained in the heart. It settles into the nervous system, clouds the mind, alters how we breathe, sleep, think, and relate. It presses on meaning, faith, and identity. This is the space I work in — not from theory alone, but from lived experience, long study, and years of walking alongside others who are grieving.
About Me
I’m Kimber — a widow and holistic grief educator.
My life has been shaped by profound loss, including the death of my husband to cancer, and by the long aftermath grief leaves behind. I know firsthand how grief changes the body, disrupts the mind, and reshapes the inner life. I don’t approach grief from a distance. I live inside it, study it, and work with it honestly — without rushing, fixing, or spiritualizing pain.
My work explores grief, loss, pain, and ache — and the impact of grief on the brain, body, and soul. I teach and companion people as they begin to understand what is happening inside them, often for the first time, and how to live with grief in a way that is truthful, embodied, and humane.
Faith is part of this work for me — not as answers or platitudes — but as learning how to remain connected to Jesus in the middle of grief, questions, and long seasons of unknowing. Spiritual life does not sit apart from grief; it is shaped by it, just as the body and mind are.
How I Work
If you find yourself overwhelmed by grief, emotionally numb, disoriented, or unsure how to move forward — you’re not failing. You’re responding to loss.
I invite you to book an appointment with me if you’re looking for a grounded, compassionate space to explore what grief is doing to you and how to live inside it with more understanding and care. Together, we enter a gentle but honest process of discovery — working with the body, the nervous system, the inner life, and faith — using creative and embodied practices that support real integration over time.
I believe information alone rarely brings change. Insight matters, but practice is where transformation happens. Together, we explore practices that help grief be met, not avoided — and that allow movement where things feel stuck.
Unabandoned & Community Work
I’m the author of Unabandoned and Being Known and Knowing.
Unabandoned has grown beyond a book into a collective — a living space of companioning that includes shared practices, cohorts, workbooks, and gatherings for widows and those who walk with them. It holds the relational side of my work: grief lived together, not alone.
I also host The Widow’s Table, a gathering space for widows to share stories, try practices, and explore grief in community — without comparison, timelines, or pressure.
Alongside my work in the U.S., I am the founder of The Widow Project, an initiative of Pamoja Love, serving widows and vulnerable families in Tanzania and Kenya through long-term relational care, advocacy, and practical support.
Credentials & Formation
My work as a holistic grief educator is grounded in both lived experience and formal training.
Certified Christian Grief Coach (CCGC)
Specialized training in Somatic Approaches to Healing Trauma
Completion of NICABM certification programs in Trauma and Grief
Ministry leadership experience in women’s ministry, outreach, children’s ministry, and Bible study facilitation
Together with my husband, I organized outreach trips to Kenya and Tanzania, where we founded Pamoja Love — a nonprofit dedicated to building homes for widows, developing mentorship programs, supporting business start-ups, and caring for families through healthcare access and children’s education.
These experiences have deepened my understanding of how dignity, presence, and compassion become carriers of hope in the hardest places of life.
